The African elephants are among the largest species with their 3-6 tonnes of weight, so it is very easy to spot them on the savannas. There are no predators that they should really afraid of, even lions target only young elephants, so they can be approached quite close without making them escape.

Elephants live in families, led by an elder female, called matriarch. Reaching their puberty, males are leaving their families and start to live alone or together with other males. The males of the African elephant is significantly larger than the female. This huge body produce larger portion of testosterone as well, especially when they are looking for mate, that leads to increased level of aggression. Elephants otherwise intelligent animals with advanced communication and showing self-awareness and empathy.

It is amazing to see these fantastic animals at their natural habitat, as they are moving slowly, grazing and sleeping. As they are really not afraid, it is easy to take good photos of them, even with shorter lenses. Baby elephants are always ready to assist you in making some really cute pictures.
